Living with Heart
is
a website offering support and encouragement to people going through a
difficult life transition.
These
pages are about navigating the ups and downs of transition, discovering
the resilience and strength you didn’t know you have, and healing from
the loss of what you left behind. That means, on the flipside, they
are also about uncovering the joy, meaning and purpose that you couldn’t
have guessed was yet to come.
Transition
is a process of recovery, restoration and renewal that takes you on a tumultuous
ride; but if you can hang on through the twists and turns, when the road
finally gets smoother and you can relax a little, you will discover that
what you have been doing on the journey is reclaiming your life.
As
people put life back together again they often find themselves on a journey
of inner transformation too. When they are making their way through this
daunting challenge, just as you may be now, they are searching for support
and connection, solace and hope. I hope you find that here, and some inspiration
too.
Welcome!
Much
as we wish it weren't so, adversity is an unavoidable part of the human
experience.
We
can handle most of life's challenges without too much pain and suffering,
but some adversities are life-changing, and that's a different story.
These
are the ones that swing through your life like a wrecking
ball. They can knock you down so flat you can hardly recognize
yourself or your life.
When
this happens, know that you can get up again. At first you can't
imagine how you ever will, but there is a way, and you will find it.
Not
only can you get up, but your experience of adversity may even start you
down a path to a fuller, richer, more meaningful life than you were living
before.
It
can teach you how to live with heart.
What
it means to "live with heart" will be different for everyone, but at the
core lies the vision of happiness each person holds.
To
me it means that
 |
I
strive to be present, right here, right now, in each moment |
 |
I
strive to uphold a commitment to living well, physically, emotionally and
spiritually |
 |
I strive to stay purposefully
connected to my whole self and the world around me |
 |
I
strive to demonstrate my belief in the motto "action speaks louder than
words" |
 |
I
strive to remember that kindness to myself and others is my guide |
 |
I strive to make the world
a better place, whether in big ways or small |
When
adversity turns your life upside down, when it blocks you or leads you
away from what you want your life to be, it might seem like joy, meaning
and purpose have gone missing.
Beyond
the chaos, they are still there!
The
quest to find them again is what overcoming adversity is all about.
I wish
you well.
